The 30th anniversary of the Tulsa Roughnecks’ Soccer Bowl championship will be celebrated Oct. 14 at a reunion hosted by Tulsa Sports Charities.
The Roughnecks Reunion will be held in the ONEOK Club level of H.A. Chapman Stadium on The University of Tulsa campus.
The Tulsa Roughnecks captured the North American Soccer League championship in 1983, defeating the Toronto Blizzard, 2-0, before a crowd of 60,051 at BC Place Stadium in Vancouver.
The reunion will take place in the former home of the Roughnecks, when it was known as Skelly Stadium.
Tickets are $75 and sponsorships are available. Proceeds from the event will complete the endowment of the Dr. George Mauerman Scholarship at The University of Tulsa. Mauerman was the Roughnecks team doctor and has served in the same capacity with the football and basketball teams at TU since 1970.
Tulsa Sports Charities director Tommy Thompson will release in the coming weeks names of those Roughnecks who will attend the reunion.
